SEPANG, March 7 — The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin officiated the Selangor Women Khatam Quran 2026 event at Masjid Sultan Abdul Samad in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The event, organised by the state government via the Women and Family Empowerment and Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) Standing Committee, in collaboration with the Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister's office, was attended by 1,000 women from the Sepang Parliamentary constituency and from across Selangor.
The programme aimed to complete the collective recitation of the 30 juz of the Quran, symbolising unity, appreciation of Islamic values, and the strengthening of ukhuwah among women.
Held to enliven the holy month of Ramadan, the event reflects the state government’s continued commitment to empowering women holistically through approaches that encompass spiritual, leadership, and social well-being aspects.
It also served as a platform to bring women together from diverse professional and community backgrounds, further strengthening support networks and the spirit of togetherness during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Also present were Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister cum Sepang MP Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, Selangor Puspanita (Malaysian Association of Wives and Women Civil Servants) chairman Datin Syarmila Yahya, and the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad.
Meanwhile, Athirah said the Ihya Ramadan Kasih 1,000 Wanita MADANI programme symbolises the unity of women, in strengthening spiritual values, leadership and community togetherness, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration.
She hopes that the programme, themed ‘Ramadan Memurni Ummah MADANI', will foster a spirit of togetherness within the community and enliven Ramadan through activities beneficial to the local community.
“This is part of the ongoing effort to enliven Ramadan, where the month teaches Muslims to become individuals of taqwa, through discipline, sincerity and deep spiritual awareness,” Athirah said.
