KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 23 — Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) must continue to be strengthened as a key pillar of Selangor’s future success through the development of quality, competitive and ethical human capital.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said institutions of higher learning are strategic state assets that shape talent and determine the direction of Selangor’s long-term development.
According to Amirudin, the higher education sector not only produces skilled workers but also serves as a catalyst for economic growth and a pillar of the knowledge ecosystem that supports national progress.
“As such, UNISEL must continue to be empowered and positioned as the key to the state’s future success through the cultivation of knowledgeable, high-quality and principled human capital,” he said.
He was speaking at UNISEL’s ‘Majlis Iftar Perdana’ at its Bestari Jaya campus here yesterday.
At the same event, Amirudin presented the University Fee Basic Assistance (BAYU) to two UNISEL students and handed over appointment letters to members of the 2026 Student Representative Council.
He stressed that as a state-owned university, UNISEL must play a more significant role in advancing Selangor’s development agenda, particularly through research, innovation and active community engagement.
He added that strategic collaboration between the university, industry and the community must be strengthened to ensure graduates are truly equipped to meet current needs and future challenges facing the state.
