PUTRAJAYA, Feb 13 — The Cabinet has welcomed Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari’s statement on strengthening procedures for managing issues involving houses of worship built without approval, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
“The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) took note of the Selangor MKN (National Security Council) meeting held yesterday concerning the management of houses of worship built without the approval of landowners or on government land.
“He emphasised that enforcement must not be carried out by individuals but in coordination with the local authorities. The Cabinet, therefore, welcomes the Selangor Menteri Besar’s statement on streamlining procedures, particularly at the local authority level, to manage this issue.
"InsyaAllah (God willing), it will be handled more effectively,” he said during a media conference today.
Yesterday, Amirudin said the state government's current conflict-resolution procedures will be strengthened.
“This includes immediate action at the local authority level and the enhancement of clearer standard operating procedures for the Special Committee for Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Taoist Affairs (LIMAS)," he said.
