SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The Selangor government is planning a large-scale International Infrastructure Expo this September to give the public a closer look at the state’s development and infrastructure planning.

Executive councillor for infrastructure Dato’ Izham Hashim said the inaugural expo, fully focused on the infrastructure portfolio, will be held at the Setia City Convention Centre in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The expo will feature projects across road development, energy, logistics, slope management, and water management — including raw water, treated water, sewage, and flood mitigation.

“Our goal is to share with the people of Selangor our achievements and how we are building a better future.

“Residents will be able to see how the state government manages infrastructure challenges in a rapidly-developing state with a high population and key national infrastructure, such as airports and ports,” he said.

Izham made the remarks after launching the 2026 Technical Innovation Day of the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) at the State Secretariat Building, with the department’s director, Dato’ Mohd Nazri Yasmin, also in attendance.

Commenting further, Izham acknowledged the challenges of managing Selangor’s infrastructure due to the state’s geography and increasing urbanisation.

“Providing infrastructure is not easy and requires significant funding. Therefore, technical expertise and innovative technology are crucial to ensure every ringgit is spent effectively.

“Through this expo, we want to show the public how innovation is applied to solve problems for the people, so they can appreciate the work being done,” he added.

Speaking about the JPS Technical Innovation Day, Izham described it as a “warm-up” or preview leading to the main expo in September.

“Today, we share the successes of the Drainage and Irrigation Department in flood and coastal integration. But in September, the scale will be much larger, involving all infrastructure industry players, including agencies like JKR, Air Selangor, and utility companies.

“We hope to realise this vision as a tribute to the Silver Jubilee of Sultan Selangor, and at the same time demonstrate the state government’s transparency in development governance,” he said.
