SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced the Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam organised by Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) last night.

Held at the Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, the forum themed ‘Kelahiran Insan Riayah’ (‘Nurturing compassionate individuals’) featured Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir and Pahang Deputy Mufti Dato’ Badli Shah Alauddin as panelists.

After the event, Sultan Sharafuddin received mock cheques totalling more than RM1.7 million from several of YIDE’s strategic partners to support the agency’s efforts in strengthening Islamic outreach.

Among the contributors were Affin Islamic Bank Berhad with RM330,000 and Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd with RM500,000 for the construction of the Pulau Indah Orphanage Hostel Complex.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad contributed RM850,000 for the KLIA Dialysis Centre at Masjid Sultan Abdul Samad, in addition to RM100,000 from Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf to support the development of the orphanage complex.

In a statement, YIDE said the forum, held in conjunction with its 15th anniversary, served as a platform to strengthen public understanding of social responsibility, welfare and the well-being of orphans.

“The forum content focused on the concept of ‘riayah’ as a foundation of care and social responsibility towards orphans, encompassing welfare, education, protection of rights and character development.

“The discussion also emphasised the role of institutions, the community and individuals in ensuring that orphans are raised in a safe, nurturing environment grounded in Islamic values,” it said.
