KLANG, Feb 11 — Electricity supply to the 128 units in Block C of Pangsapuri Seri Perantau in Pelabuhan Klang that has been cut off by a fire in the electrical riser room since December 7 has been restored.
State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the contractor completed repairs ahead of the original deadline of February 24, with the Certificate of Completion handed over to the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) today.
“Thank God, the issue affecting about 600 residents has been resolved,” he said after the handover ceremony for the completed electrical rewiring works and the distribution of food baskets at Pangsapuri Seri Perantau here today.
“Critical issues related to the incident were resolved efficiently through the cooperation of all parties.”
Borhan said the long-term actions plan will continue to be implemented by the state government to ensure the safety of the apartment complex.
“An audit on the electrical wiring for the remaining 11 blocks will be conducted to ensure electrical safety is at the optimum level and to avoid a recurrence of the fire incident.
“We will also inspect the distribution board (DB) of the affected block. There may have been trespassing, as I observed previous cases where they were broken into. The locks were damaged, and personal items may have been stored inside.
“We are also concerned about possible attempts of cable theft. We have asked the block management to ensure they are locked and to prevent any trespassing.”
Meanwhile, Block C head Azizul Anuar Abu Karim expressed his gratitude following the resolution of the issue ahead of schedule.
Previously, Borhan said the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) allocated RM2 million to fund the repairs.
On a separate matter, Borhan said the Selangor Rewang Komuniti Strata programme, aimed at engaging residents and gaining a closer understanding of their concerns and needs, will resume in April.
He said this year’s programme will kick off at Pangsapuri Seri Perantau before it is expanded to other locations.
“At the programme, we will seek cooperation from all government agencies, particularly Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), to raise awareness on proper electricity usage and the upkeep of the residential area.”
On November 14 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the Rewang Komuniti Strata programme will continue in 2026 with an allocation of RM2 million.
