SHAH ALAM, Feb 11 — The Selangor government has launched the Selangor Wakaf Month 2026, aiming to encourage the public to make wakaf (Islamic endowment) a continuous practice that delivers long-term benefits to the community.
Executive councillor for Islamic affairs Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the state-level initiative should be continued to cultivate a culture of wakaf among the people.
“Wakaf may be a sunnah (voluntary) practice, but its rewards and benefits last until the Day of Judgment,” he said during the launch at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, representing Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Dr Fahmi encouraged Selangor’s public servants to contribute consistently via salary deductions and to promote wakaf campaigns within their departments. He also called on state-linked companies to adopt corporate wakaf practices, following examples set by several local authorities since last year’s Wakaf Month.

“We support all programmes and developments by Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS) and hope more projects can be built on wakaf land for the sustainable economic benefit of the Muslim community. The state government will ensure these projects are executed properly,” he added.
The government also intends to make Wakaf Month an annual agenda and will contribute through appropriate methods.
During the event, PWS launched the ‘Wakaf Selangor’ app, a digital platform designed to simplify wakaf contributions and expand public participation in a systematic, transparent, and user-friendly manner.
The ceremony also saw 12 corporate donors contribute RM400,000 in symbolic cash wakaf pledges to PWS, signalling strong corporate support for strengthening Selangor’s wakaf ecosystem.
