SHAH ALAM, Feb 9 — A Myanmar national selling fish without a valid license at the Serendah Public Market in Hulu Selangor was apprehended in an operation conducted by the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) yesterday.

In a statement on social media, MPHS said the foreigner had violated UUK 3 under the council’s Hawkers By-Laws 2007, and that it had carried out a seizure of the trader’s goods.

MPHS added that it will continue to conduct regular enforcement operations to ensure street trading is carried out in an orderly and legal manner.

Previously, the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) carried out enforcement against foreign traders in January following public complaints. During the MPKL operation, four foreigners had their goods seized.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health stated that it had identified the modus operandi of foreign hawkers and would step up monitoring to address the activity.
