SUBANG JAYA, Feb 8 — The state government, together with the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), has stressed that no approval has been granted for any housing development in areas near Hutan Wawasan.
Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han said his office had instructed MBSJ to reject the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) process, which was found to lack transparency, even though the study was still ongoing.
Any proposed development that could adversely affect the environment or the lives of local residents cannot be accepted.
“Although the area was gazetted as early as 1926 and has an owner, any development that could harm the environment and the livelihood of local residents is unacceptable.
“The Kinrara State Constituency Service Centre, together with MBSJ councillors, also fully supports residents who oppose the proposed development,” he said during the Chinese New Year celebration at Taman Rekreasi Wawasan in Puchong last night.
Ng added that allegations claiming the state government and MBSJ had granted approval are baseless.
“Development in the area could potentially affect the quality of life of the surrounding community as well as hikers who use the trails at Bukit Wawasan for recreational activities,” he said.
