LZS helps victims of fire that killed toddler

SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 — A heartbreaking tragedy befell a family in Kampung Seri Cheeding, Kuala Langat, yesterday, when a fire razed their rental home and killed a three-year-old boy.

The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), through Masjid Nur Hidayah Kampung Seri Cheeding head Azhar Kattan and zakat collector Rozima Samsudin, presented emergency aid to the victims.

LZS said early census found that the family qualifies as poor asnaf and follow-up aid will be disbursed after documentation is complete.

“We pray that Madam Nur Liah Asul and her family are granted strength and acceptance in the face of this test.

“Thank you to all zakat payers, as your contributions help lighten the burdens of families being tested,” LZS said in a Facebook statement last night.

In the incident, Muhammad Zahir Adha Mohd Zaid, 3, was found dead in the rubble, and his remains were buried at the Kampung Seri Cheeding Muslim Cemetery at 4.55pm yesterday.

Kuala Langat district police chief Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi reportedly said early checks found that the fire was sparked by a short circuit.

The blaze, which broke out at 2.50am, involved a row of rental homes. Akmalrizal said the cause of the fire and estimated losses are still being investigated.
