SHAH ALAM, Feb 5 — A lorry driver has died and seven others were injured in a collision involving an express bus and two lorries at KM433 of the North–South Expressway (PLUS) southbound early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the deceased was a lorry driver employed by a security company and was pronounced dead by medical officers.
He added that the lorry’s co-driver, 39, suffered broken ribs and was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
“The express bus driver was trapped and sustained head and left-leg injuries, while three male passengers were injured and a young girl suffered a nosebleed. The trailer driver also sustained a neck injury,” he said in a statement.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said an emergency call was received at 5.12 am, prompting 16 personnel from the Bukit Sentosa and Rawang fire and rescue stations to rush to the scene.
There were 19 adult passengers comprising 14 men and five women, as well as seven children on board the bus.
All the injured were handed over to the Health Ministry for further treatment.
