KLUANG, Aug 14 — A woman was killed and five others injured in a collision involving a van and a lorry at KM55.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound early this morning.
Renggam Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Shoromi Salih said five personnel and a Sitrak fire and rescue vehicle were dispatched to the scene, 51km away, after receiving an emergency call. They arrived at 12.54 am.
“The driver of the Toyota van, a woman, was confirmed dead at the scene after becoming trapped in the driver’s seat,” he said in a statement.
The five passengers in the van, including three children and a disabled man, were injured and removed from the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived.
Shoromi said the male driver of the Isuzu lorry was unharmed.
