SHAH ALAM, Jan 26 — Following Selangor’s record revenue last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the Selangor State Executive Council has approved additional funds to strengthen key sectors in Selangor.
He said this includes RM10 million to improve cleanliness and beautification in certain villages, RM4 million to upgrade dilapidated facilities at religious schools, and RM2 million to make Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque a tourism hub.
“Last year, 100,000 tourists visited the state mosque. God willing, with improved facilities and amenities, even more people will have the opportunity to visit,” he said in his New Year’s address to civil servants here today.
Amirudin said the state government will also allocate RM2 million to expedite pending strata title registrations, and RM500,000 for free third-language classes, registrations for which open February 9.
“Apart from being able to speak Bahasa Melayu, English, Tamil, Banjar, and Javanese, Selangor residents will have the opportunity to learn languages such as Spanish, French, and Japanese and Korean.
“This means they can even enjoy Korean dramas in their original language,” he said.
He also said RM500,000 will be allocated for financial literacy classes in schools, and emphasised the importance of equipping youth with the knowledge to manage responsibilities and develop sound money management skills from an early age.
“These initiatives reflect our commitment to empowering the community through education, culture, and skills development (programmes),” Amirudin said, highlighting the state’s focus for inclusive growth and lifelong learning.
