SHAH ALAM, Jan 19 — A total of 25,000 Jom Shopping Perayaan vouchers worth RM200 each will be distributed in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations next month, said the state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.

The initiative targets low-income and needy groups across all 56 state constituencies in Selangor, using a RM5 million allocation.

“The distribution of the vouchers will be carried out through the respective state constituency offices and coordinators,” he said.

Elected representatives and constituency coordinators have also been instructed to identify and update the list of eligible recipients to ensure that assistance reaches those who genuinely need it.

In addition to the Chinese New Year, Papparaidu said Jom Shopping Perayaan, under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative, is also being implemented to help underprivileged families celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali.

The state government is continuing Jom Shopping Perayaan this year with an additional allocation of RM2 million, bringing the total to RM18.48 million.

The initiative benefits 92,400 B40 families in Selangor, enabling them to purchase basic necessities during the festive season.
