KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Two HELP University students who were injured in the air conditioning gas explosion at the university's campus in Bukit Damansara are still receiving treatment at the hospital, while two others have been discharged.
The private tertiary institution said the six individuals who were also injured in the incident have also been discharged from the hospital.
“The university authorities remain in close contact with its students, staff, and families involved and will continue to provide all necessary forms of support throughout their recovery period," it said in a statement today.
Additionally, HELP University welcomes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for a swift and comprehensive investigation into the incident.
It is also ready to continue working closely with the authorities, building owners, and building management companies to gather the facts of the incident and ensure all safety protocols are properly reviewed.
“We appreciate the support as well as care shown to all parties involved and are grateful to the students, family members and colleagues, both locally and internationally, who have offered support and words of encouragement to the families of the four students injured in the incident," said HELP University.
Yesterday, Anwar called for an immediate and comprehensive investigation to identify the cause of the air-conditioning gas explosion at HELP University, which occurred on Monday (January 12).
Following the 11.40am incident, it was reported that one man died and nine others were injured in an air conditioning gas explosion at HELP University.
The deceased victim was identified as Soo Yu Juan, 24, a third-year student pursuing a Mechanical Engineering course at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
