Student Protection Policy introduced, requiring parents, schools to sign

SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 — The Education Ministry (MOE) has introduced a Student Protection Policy that must be signed by all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and school administrators, as a collective commitment to combat bullying.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stressed that the ministry will not compromise on student safety, as the move is part of efforts to strengthen a safe learning environment.

“We do not compromise on bullying issues, and this is the ministry’s commitment at all times. This responsibility must be shared to ensure schools are conducive and children are protected.

“All parties will sign this protection policy, which will involve all stakeholders as a pledge to safeguard and protect children. This policy will be introduced as soon as the school session begins.

“This is among the new initiatives, in addition to the Safe School Manual, which is now at its final stage. The manual will be shared with parents as a shared responsibility,” she said after officiating the opening of SJK(C) Ladang Regent Elmina today.

Meanwhile, Fadhlina reminded school administrations to ensure that students attend school and do not fall behind in their studies.

“The issue of student dropouts is addressed at all times…if there are records of absenteeism, it is the responsibility of schools and administrators to examine and review them to ensure this matter is addressed.

“Ensure that no one is left behind. This is also the responsibility of parents and the community. If there are documentation issues, parents need to resolve them so that registration can proceed smoothly,” she said.
