SHAH ALAM, Jan 10 — The Selangor Youth Movement (PeBS) appreciation ceremony last night, organised by the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS), was aimed at recognising young people’s achievements and cementing their roles as the state’s future leaders.
State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said PeBS has an important duty in holding youth development programmes, with over 1,000 such programmes under its belt, involving Selangor’s 12 local councils.
“PeBS isn’t just a youth development platform, but a space to equip them with political, protocol, administrative, and crisis management literacy.
“PeBS will continue its activities, in line with allocations under the 2026 Selangor Budget for leadership programmes that add value to Selangor youth,” he said when met at the ceremony at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building here last night.
Najwan added that PeBS has contributed significantly to youth development with various high-impact programmes.
The ceremony saw seven recognitions awarded, including the PeBS Hope Award, Selangor Menteri Besar Award, and Special PeBS Jury Award.
Under the 2026 state budget, the Selangor government maintained a RM10,000 allocation for PeBS to ensure continued leadership development at the grassroots.
Meanwhile, the KITASelangor Young Generation Leadership Development Institute was established last year to ramp up capacity-building and youth leadership efforts.
PeBS was rebranded in 2021 from Local Youth Movement (PeBT), which was in turn launched in 2009.
PeBS plays a role in the youth development agenda at every Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting.
