PUTRAJAYA, Jan 9 — The Education Ministry (MOE) has activated the National Education Advisory Council to evaluate whether there is a need to revive Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) and Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the council’s findings would be presented to the Cabinet before any decisions are made.
“We will review the exams as they remain a key concern among parents,” she said, adding that survey reports and recommendations would also be submitted to the Cabinet for deliberation.
Fadhlina said the study would be carried out soon.
UPSR, which was an evaluation for Year 6 students, was abolished in 2021, while PT3 (for Form 3 students) ended in 2022. Both were replaced with school-based assessments.
