SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — The state government has emphasised the importance of a stable electricity supply to ensure the smooth and sustainable development and operation of industries at the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley (Beringin HTA Valley).
The matter was discussed at a meeting chaired by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari yesterday, with representatives from Chery Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) present.
He said the discussion focused on energy infrastructure requirements as a crucial foundation for high-technology industrial development, particularly to support the operations of large-scale automotive manufacturing plants.
“This discussion focused on the need for a stable electricity supply from TNB as a key foundation to ensure that the development and operation of industrial factories can proceed smoothly and sustainably.
“These efforts are also in line with the role of Invest Selangor in attracting more foreign investment into Selangor,” he said.
Beringin HTA Valley will house the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park, the flagship project of its first phase, covering 200 acres in Hulu Selangor.
The project is targeted to produce up to 100,000 vehicles per year, with an investment value of RM2.2 billion over five years, in addition to creating high-skilled employment opportunities.
Amirudin is hopeful that Beringin HTA Valley's development can stimulate the Northern Selangor Corridor's economy, particularly in Hulu Selangor, and strengthen the state's position as Malaysia's leading investment destination.
“I hope this development will serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the Northern Selangor Corridor, namely Hulu Selangor, open up more quality job opportunities, and further strengthen Selangor’s standing as a premier investment destination,” he said.
