SHAH ALAM, JAN 7 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has mandated that three priority areas — solid waste management, disaster management, and road infrastructure — be given due attention by the local authorities this year.
He was reminding them to continue addressing issues affecting people’s daily lives.
“While the state government recorded a significant revenue in 2025, I must remind the local council to focus on key issues at the state and local levels,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Amirudin also encouraged the local authorities to be more proactive in highlighting their successes, particularly in resolving localised public issues within their respective areas.
"Improvements in local issues are increasingly visible and felt by communities, but without effective communication, the public may continue to view challenges in broad terms without recognising the incremental improvements achieved by local authorities,” he said.
Amirudin’s remarks come after a meeting with the state’s mayors and presidents today, where he expressed his gratitude for their service and contribution to Selangor’s revenue.
He also took note of concerns and matters raised by the mayors and presidents, saying that these would be brought to the State Executive Council meeting for consideration and implementation.
"Local authorities remain the frontline of the state government in engaging with the people, and I hope that 2026 will see further strengthening of service delivery, in line with the principles of resilience and human-centric values under the #KitaSelangor agenda," Amirudin said.
Yesterday, the Menteri Besar held a separate meeting with state district officers, during which he identified illegal dumping, land encroachment, and land ownership as the three main issues to be given immediate attention across all districts in Selangor.
"The state government remains focused on implementing key programmes, disaster management and district administration, which will continue to be prioritised in the interest of the people as a whole,” he said.
