SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — One hundred pupils from B40 families in Petaling Jaya received vouchers to purchase school supplies, contributed by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Its Community Development deputy director Ku Mustafa Ku Mohamad said the RM300 vouchers are intended to ease the burden on parents while reflecting MBPJ’s concern over rising living costs.

“This annual contribution helps B40 families around Petaling Jaya to prepare their children’s school necessities. Each family receives RM300 in cash vouchers to purchase their children’s school essentials,” he said.

Speaking to the media after the Jom Kembali Ke Sekolah 2026 Shopping Voucher Contribution programme at Mydin Subang Jaya today, Mustafa said the recipients were selected based on e-Kasih data, comprising families registered on the platform.

He added that MBPJ will continue to extend assistance to the B40 group in the future, particularly during Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

In addition, the council has strengthened student mobility support through the free PJ City Bus service operating along routes PJ01 to PJ06, benefiting school students in Petaling Jaya and helping to reduce families’ daily transport costs.

This initiative aligns with its aspiration to make Petaling Jaya an inclusive, caring, and resilient city.
