SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — Eight small entrepreneurs in Hulu Selangor have received assistance with business equipment through the Selangor Indian Entrepreneur Equipment Assistance (i-SEED) programme to help expand their businesses.
The i-SEED Unit's head coordinator Mathavan Muniandy said the assistance was presented during the 2025 equipment handover programme on Friday (December 26).
The recipients comprised three food traders, as well as one tailor, one barber, one catering operator, one grated coconut trader, and one grocery shop owner.
“The unit would also like to record its highest appreciation to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for his continued support of the i-SEED initiative for the well-being of the people of Selangor,” he said in a Facebook post.
Previously, during the tabling of the 2026 Selangor Budget last month, Amirudin announced a RM1 million allocation to ensure the programme's continuation in the coming year.
i-SEED, launched on April 7, 2021, aims to enhance the economic standing of the Indian community in Selangor by providing business equipment assistance tailored to the type of enterprise being operated.
To qualify for assistance, applicants must be Selangor citizens or have resided in the state for more than 10 years, earn a monthly income of not more than RM3,000, and operate their business within the state.
