Updates on LRT3 to come in January — Prasarana

SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — Updates on the LRT3 Shah Alam line, including when operations would kick off, will be announced next month, said Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.

Shah Alam Line operations chief Mohd Ariffin Idris said trains being used for the route are undergoing fault-free run (FFR) testing, monitored by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).

“There are three trains that have achieved the desired distance, but they have to be reevaluated, because APAD will relook at the criteria.

“The latest status of the Shah Alam LRT line will be announced in January,” he told reporters during a meet-and-greet with Selangor media practitioners here today.

Earlier this month, Prasarana said the new launch date for the LRT3 hasn’t been decided, following delays due to technical issues detected during testing.

Prasarana group chief executive officer and present Amir Hamdan said to ensure passenger safety, the route won’t kick off as originally scheduled at the end of this year.

He said the LRT3 Shah Alam line will only kick off after technical repairs and upgrades are done as safety, operational and performance issues were found during the testing and commissioning process.
