GOMBAK, Dec 28 — The Selangor government is committed to upgrading community halls in the state to ensure comfortable and safe facilities for activities organised by the local community.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said this is commitment is evident from the upgrading of the Kampung Laksamana community hall here, 10 years after it first operated.
“This hall has been successfully upgraded. The project aims to provide more comfortable and safer facilities for the use of local residents.”
"The hall is one of the more important public amenities and ought to be upgraded after over 10 years in use," he said after the officiating the facility today.
He added that the project was implemented under the Gombak parliamentary Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU).
Amirudin also provided assurance that the state government views the issue of flooding in the village seriously.
Meanwhile, Kampung Laksamana chief Roszaidi Ishak said the community hall serves as a vital activity centre for the village, gathering residents of all races and ages.
"Various activities are conducted here, including our weekly meeting. It is also used community activities like kompang training."
Roszaidi said Amirudin's visit today has also allowed villagers the opportunity to raise their concerns pertaining to the recurring floods.
"The Menteri Besar has shown that he is concerned and provided assurance that the issue will be resolved," he said.
On November 28, the Sungai Tua State Constituency Service Centre Facebook page announced that upgrading works on the drainage system along the Kampung Laksamana 10 road had begun.
The upgrading works involve the installation of reinforced concrete structures measuring 900mm, 1,200mm and 1,500mm to increase water flow capacity directly into the river.
The project is expected to resolve flooding issues affecting more than 100 homes along Jalan Laksamana 10, 10/2 and 10/3.
