SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today wished Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj a happy 80th birthday.
Amirudin said this is a historic moment as today is the Ruler’s actual birthday. The Selangor Sultan’s ceremonial birthday is celebrated on December 11.
“With reverence, I represent the people, leadership and state administration in wishing His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj a happy 80th birthday,” he said in a Facebook post.
Amirudin added that everyone in Selangor is grateful to God for Sultan Sharafuddin’s rule.
“The people and I pray to God so Selangor continues to be peaceful and prosper under Your Royal Highness’ rule,” his post read.
Amirudin also prayed that the Ruler and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin are granted long lives and many blessings.
In a related development, the state administration is preparing to celebrate Sultan Sharafuddin’s Silver Jubilee next year.
Yesterday, state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the official event could include a Royal Concert to celebrate 25 years since Sultan Sharafuddin’s accession.
