SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (YaNIS) continues to empower youth with disabilities (OKU) as leaders of tomorrow through the OKU Youth Leadership Inspiration Ceremony under Independent Living Support Centre (ILSC).

YaNIS chief executive officer Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim said the ceremony, which gathered 57 ILSC alumni, is an important platform for OKU youth to build self-confidence and leadership skills.

“The OKU youth before us are ILSC alumni, individuals who once came to us with challenges, but now stand as examples that success is not impossible,” he said.

Kamarul added that OKU success stories carry a stronger message as they are borne from real experiences, not just theory.

He also said YaNIS is committed to providing training, support, and space to help OKU children towards independent living.

“Every effort and prayer is not wasted as OKU children have great potential with the right support,” Kamarul said.

The ceremony also centred four ILSC alumni who shared their success stories in various career fields.

The sharing session proved that physical deficits are not a barrier for one to achieve their dreams and become a competitive individual.

The ILSC, held by YaNIS, is a character and resilience development platform for OKU youth under a systematic approach towards independent living.

Program ILSC anjuran Yanis menjadi platform pembangunan sahsiah dan daya tahan belia OKU menerusi pendekatan sokongan hidup berdikari secara sistematik.

The OKU Youth Leadership Inspiration Ceremony is proof of how inclusive policies and support programmes can build a generation of OKU who are confident and resilient.
