SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has distributed 8,583 food baskets to B40 families in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur since June 2020, said its corporate communications head Elina Baseri.
She said the food baskets, known as “Boxes of Hope”, are given out to lighten the burden of lower-income groups and brighten their days.
“The distribution of these basic food items also brings different segments of society closer, including the local community, residents’ groups, local authorities, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“For Christmas, Air Selangor channelled essential items such as food, clothing, and cleaning supplies to BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence in Seri Kembangan, Shelter Home for Children in Petaling Jaya, and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Openhands Fellowship in Kajang.
“Air Selangor remains committed to approach needy communities and ensure no one is sidelined in celebrating this festive season,” she said, according to a statement.
The agency said the public can contribute digitally on Air Selangor’s Box of Hope page.
Air Selangor is Malaysia’s largest water services provider that provides clean, safe treated water to over 9.62 million users in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.
Air Selangor manages 34 water treatment plants in 10 territories, and employs over 5,000 people with vast experience in various fields in the industry.
The Box of Hope programme is part of Air Selangor’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort, which aims to help the needy.
