KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — Seven ministers, including two new appointees, and eight new deputy ministers took their oath of office, allegiance and secrecy today before His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at Istana Negara here.
The swearing-in took place at the palace's Singgahsana Kecil at 10am.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was present at the ceremony.
Yesterday, Anwar, who is also finance minister, announced the appointment of new ministers and deputy ministers, as well as the reshuffling of several portfolios, following several vacancies within the Cabinet and the need for adjustments.
The ministers and deputy ministers also signed the instrument of appointment, witnessed by Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh.
The ministers are:
Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup — Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister (previously Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister)
Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad — Plantation and Commodities Minister (previously Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister)
Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan — Human Resource Minister (previously Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister)
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir — Economy Minister (previously Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister)
Dr Zulkifli Hasan — Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs)
Datuk Mustapha Sakmud — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs)
Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari — Youth and Sports Minister
The newly appointed deputy ministers are:
Sim Tze Tzin — Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister
Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah — Deputy Economy Minister
Yuneswaran Ramaraj — Deputy National Unity Minister
Mordi Bimol — Deputy Youth and Sports Minister
Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh — Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister
Chiew Choon Man — Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister
Datuk Lo Su Fui — Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories)
Marhamah Rosli — Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs)
The ceremony concluded with a photo session before they left Istana Negara at 10.45am.
