KLANG, Dec 16 — Thirteen subsidiaries of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, have Organisational Anti-Corruption Plans (OACPs) to strengthen integrity and governance, said MBI group chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop.

He said the two latest additions to the OACP roster are Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) and Yayasan Hijrah Selangor.

“There are around 26 first-tier companies that report directly to MBI, so we’ve achieved half (with 13 subsidiaries having OACPs) and we hope more will have their own anti-graft plans.

“This includes large companies like (Pengurusan) Air Selangor and Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor (KPS) that also employ their OACPs in their own subsidiaries to ensure comprehensive implementation,” Saipolyazan added when met at the MBI Group Integrity Day and OACP launch ceremony here today.

He also said the OACPs reflect MBI’s continuous effort to ensure governance with integrity at all organisational levels.

“God willing, in years to come, more MBI subsidiaries will launch their own anti-corruption plans,” he added.

Saipolyazan explained that MBI works closely with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assess and improve company policies and procedures to close loopholes that could allow graft and abuse of power.

“We get MACC’s views through a policy committee to ensure MBI and its subsidiaries’ policies and procedures adhere to legal provisions.

“This effort is to ensure there is no room for graft, and to improve awareness among management and staff to better understand their responsibilities and avoid abuse of power,” Saipolyazan added.

He said MBI subsidiaries’ OACPs started being launched in 2023, with priority given to main and first-tier companies involved in procurement and high financial transactions.

“We started with MBI and large companies like KPS and Air Selangor due to their procurement risks and high transaction values.

“Only after that did we expand (the OACPs) to smaller firms like Yawas, Hijrah Selangor, and other strategic companies under MBI,” Saipolyazan said.
