SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, will optimise profits from its existing commercial activities and channel them to the state government to support initiatives under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2).
Group chief executive officer Dato' Saipolyazan M Yusop said MBI would continue strengthening its role as the state government's investment arm by generating profits through commercial activities.
He said the profits would be distributed to the state administration and reinvested for the benefit of Selangor residents.
"For RS-2, MBI is involved in two of its missions — Mission One (Driving Selangor's Economic Leadership) and Mission Four (Productive and Inclusive Human Capital).
"As the state government's investment arm, MBI will look at our existing commercial activities to generate profits, which we will then distribute to the Selangor government to be channelled back to the people," he told Media Selangor.
Speaking at the CEO Circle 26 programme, Saipolyazan added that the state government's plans for implementing RS-2 also involved welfare programmes carried out by MBI's strategic companies and agencies, including the Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor initiative, Anak Istimewa Selangor (ANIS) and Yayasan MBI's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
He said programmes implemented by the agencies would be aligned with the state government's plans to ensure their benefits reach residents across all districts.
"Welfare programmes under MBI's strategic companies and agencies, such as YAWAS, ANIS and Yayasan MBI, are also subject to the state government's planning in implementing RS-2.
"Benefits distributed through programmes implemented by the agencies involved will reach people comprehensively across all districts, in line with the missions of RS-2," he said.
Previously, the menteri besar said the RM33.31 billion required to implement RS-2 would be spent equitably, without relying solely on state government allocations.
Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the plan would also be funded through revenue generated by state government subsidiaries, private-sector investment and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Last Friday, Amirudin tabled RS-2, which outlines Selangor's development direction until 2030. The plan comprises six main missions spanning 25 areas and 98 initiatives.
