SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — The claims that a development project near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve in Puchong has been approved are untrue, said Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han.

He said that to date, the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has not received any development application for the area concerned, thereby refuting rumours circulating among residents.

“So far, no application has been submitted to MBSJ. Therefore, claims that the project has received approval are unfounded,” he said in a Facebook post.

Ng added that he understands residents’ concerns regarding the proposed development, as the area has steep slopes and poses safety and environmental risks.

Although the land in question is privately owned and does not fall within the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve, safety considerations and environmental impact remain top priorities.

“The state government and the local authority will not compromise on issues involving residents’ safety and environmental sustainability,” he said.

Ng noted that the landowner is currently conducting a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and urged local residents to take the opportunity to voice their views, concerns, or objections through the feedback process.

He emphasised that his office has been in contact with MBSJ to ensure that the SIA process is thoroughly reviewed and carried out with complete transparency.

“Residents’ participation is crucial. This is part of our efforts to ensure that any planned development truly takes into account the wellbeing of the people and the environment,” Ng said.

On November 22, a news portal reported that more than 700 Puchong residents had objected to a proposed development project near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve, involving approximately 68.411 hectares of land.

They expressed concerns over potential traffic congestion, environmental risks, and the loss of green spaces in Puchong, which is becoming increasingly densely developed.
