SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — The state government will hold discussions with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to enhance bus services, particularly along the Semenyih-Kajang Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station route.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the decision came after a meeting with Semenyih state assemblyman Nushi Mahfodz and the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) to fine-tune proposals for enhancing the public transport system and network in the Semenyih and Kajang areas.
The discussions focused on the need for a last-mile route connecting Semenyih to the Kajang MRT station, as many residents continue to rely on rail services to commute to Kuala Lumpur city centre and surrounding areas.
“Regardless of political differences, issues affecting the people must be addressed in the best interests of Selangor’s residents.
“We have agreed to hold further discussions with Prasarana to improve the frequency of the T450 bus service and to consider special routes to better support residents travelling from Semenyih to the Kajang MRT station,” he said in a statement.
Ng added that the Selangor Smart Bus service operated by the MPKj has also been identified for improvement to better serve local residents.
“Under the mobility empowerment agenda, the state government takes a holistic approach and collaborates with all stakeholders to ensure inclusive and reliable transport connectivity across all districts,” he said.
Previously, Nushi, a PAS representative, raised the issue of public transport in Semenyih during the recent State Legislative Assembly sitting.
Following the meeting, discussions were held with MPKj to assess enhancements to the Semenyih-Kajang public transport network, particularly regarding last-mile connectivity.
Cross-party and inter-agency collaboration will continue to support the state government’s mobility agenda, aimed at creating a smoother, more comfortable, and inclusive public transport system in Selangor.
