HULU SELANGOR, Dec 14 — State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah has urged apartment residents to take advantage of the Rewang Komuniti Strata programme as a platform to channel complaints and voice any issues related to their respective residences.

Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said they can put forward their views on apartment needs, including incentives, initiatives, or programmes they wish to see implemented.

Effective proposals and ideas should emerge from the collective voice of the majority of residents, rather than being determined by the interests of only a small group.

“Therefore, residents are encouraged to work together with the management and make full use of the state government’s Rewang Komuniti Strata programme to strengthen the community.

“The government has always placed housing as a priority and made it one of its key agendas,” he said during the programme's closing ceremony last night.

Rewang Komuniti Strata, first implemented last year, is one of Borhan's initiatives aimed at fostering closer ties within apartment communities, cultivating positive values, and harnessing the potential of urban communities across various aspects.

It aims to enhance social well-being, neighbourhood harmony, and prosperity among residents of high-rise housing, a housing segment that is expanding rapidly in Selangor.

The programme also serves as an essential platform for identifying needs related to maintenance, security, cleanliness, and community welfare within strata developments, which often face management challenges and high maintenance costs.

Meanwhile, during the event, five apartment complexes in the Batang Kali state constituency received over RM3 million in building repair allocations to enhance their residents’ comfort and safety.

He said the projects involve roof replacement, repainting of buildings, upgrading water tanks, and rewiring.

“The total allocation amounts to RM3,140,233, and this proves that a united community which actively seeks assistance will eventually receive benefits that have a positive impact on residents,” Borhan said.

The councillor added that he hopes the repair contributions from the state government, the Housing and Local Government Ministry, and the Selangor Penyayang Project will improve the living conditions of local residents.

One of the representatives who received the funds, Apartment Buginvilla Joint Management Body (JMB) chairman Norsita Zainal, said their RM271,623 allocation will be used to upgrade the apartment’s electrical wiring in Taman Bunga Raya.

“We applied for the Ceria Scheme in 2024 and did not expect the application to be approved in 2025. The electrical wiring in this apartment is old, as it has been occupied since 2000,” she said, while thanking the Selangor government for its concern over residents’ safety.

For Sri Bakawali JMB chairman Faizah Ahmad, the RM1.2 million allocation received through Selangor Penyayang will be used to repaint 10 apartment blocks.

“This apartment complex was built in 1998 and first occupied in 2000. The building is old and appears dull.

“Residents are eager to see the transformation once the buildings look more attractive and vibrant again,” she said.

In addition to the two apartment complexes, Apartment Seri Kemboja also received a RM1.29 million allocation, followed by Apartment Seri Kembangan (RM125,330) and Apartment Seri Tulip (RM255,380).
