SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has called on the volunteer machinery of the Taman Medan state constituency to work harder in preparation for the upcoming election.

He also expressed his appreciation to the volunteers who have contributed significantly and served in Taman Medan.

“This is an ongoing effort that we must carry out to defend the mandate we have held since 2008. Indeed, we found ourselves in a position of not having won convincingly at the last election.

“However, I believe that through continuous service and the concern shown, together with programmes implemented by the state government and assistance from the Federal government, we are capable of reclaiming Taman Medan under our strength in the next election,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking in a video message screened at the Menabur Bakti, Menuai Kasih dinner with the Taman Medan coordinating volunteers at Mardhiyyah Hotel and Suites last night.

Meanwhile, Amirudin also urged all party machinery to continue working to ensure that Taman Medan's constituents are consistently cared for and that ongoing advocacy is implemented effectively.

“We want state government programmes to reach the grassroots and achieve their intended objectives, while at the same time ensuring that we (Pakatan Harapan) continue to excel in Petaling Jaya and Taman Medan,” he said.

During the 2023 Selangor State Election, Harapan candidate Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik narrowly lost to Perikatan Nasional representative Dr Afif Bahardin in the contest for the state seat.

Dr Afif won by a slim majority of just 30 votes, securing 22,316 votes compared with Akhir’s 22,286 votes.
