KLANG, Dec 11 — Selangor continues to focus on shaping a generation that is resilient, educated and visionary as a foundation to strengthen the state’s social and economic development, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the 2026 Selangor Budget, with its six core goals, was meticulously designed to ensure state policies remain relevant and effective.
“It was formulated with consideration to current urgent needs, which is the formation of a generation that is resilient, educated, and visionary.
“This goal is to ensure justice for the people, better job opportunities, and entering a new era of change through governance reforms for the people,” he said in his speech during the investiture ceremony held for Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s 80th birthday at Istana Alam Shah here today.
According to Amirudin, Selangor emphasises the importance of education as the younger generation’s key to success, including by strengthening intervention programmes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
He also said the commitment made during the 15th Selangor election, 5 Tekad 5 Tahun (Five Goals, Five Years), which highlighted 48 main commitments and new expansions, is showing positive developments.
“Up to early December, or in 28 months, 47.92 per cent have been implemented, while some are being implemented.
“I am committed to expedite goals that haven’t been implemented so Your Royal Highness’ people can reap the benefits, especially in managing the state that has the highest urbanisation rate in Malaysia,” Amirudin said.
On the Speed Selangor policy launched in October, he said it has been well received by the industry as it expedites job opportunities for the people.
“This is because the red tape between the government and local councils have been reduced from three-and-a-half months to only seven to 14 days for construction that meets the criteria,” he said.
Amirudin added that the state government is committed to expedite flood mitigation projects in the Sungai Klang basin, Sungai Langat, Sungai Selangor, Sungai Buloh, Sungai Bernam, and Kapar Besar, to the tune of RM54.34 million.
