KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — Surah Al-Saff in the Quran, which emphasises strength, resilience and unity, is an important reminder in facing current economic and social challenges, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the modern battlefield no longer involves weapons, but is focused on economic imbalances, environmental pressures, geopolitical shocks, and deteriorating trust in institutions.
“In facing these challenges, the economy is an important pillar for the ummah to rise, contribute, and lead, but the pillar would only be strong if it is built on the trust between government and people, employer and employee, producer and consumer,” he said at the World Quran Conference at Menara MITI here today.
Amirudin also embraced the #Saff12Movement initiative by the convention research team that linked the Quran’s guides to 12 main sectors of the economy and people.
“This effort is important so reflections upon Surah Al-Saff don’t remain mere theories, but are translated into roles, groups and responsibilities in various industries.
“No one state or country can build a Quranic economy on its own. Selangor is here as a model that is still learning, offering its experience, systems and lessons as a shared duty for the ummah,” he said.
He expressed hope that the convention becomes the start of a 10-year journey that unites policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and the people to ensure #Saff12Movement truly translates the Quran’s lessons into sector-based transformation.
“May ‘From Revelation to Innovation’ not just be a tagline, but our work culture,” Amirudin said.
The convention, held by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF), is in its fifth year, and carries the theme “Surah Al-Saff: Quranic Solutions for Global Economic Challenges”.
It involves 20 countries including Brunei, Indonesia, Iran, Germany, France, and the United States, and discusses how Quranic values can be applied in contemporary economics, including in business ethics, sustainable investment, social responsibility, and community development.
The World Quran Convention is also an international networking space to explore policies, social collaborations, and economic initiatives centred on moral and spiritual values.
