PUCHONG, Dec 6 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) has joined an integrated operation to apddress an illegal effluent discharge case that polluted several sewage treatment plants (LRK) around Taman Perindustrian Puchong.
The operation, headed by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), was also joined by other state agencies including Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), Environment Department (DOE), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).
According to Luas, inspections were focused on a chicken slaughterhouse suspected of lackadaisically discharging effluent to the point of compromising the quality of a nearby water source.
“Inspections at the site focused on its impact on the water source, specifically involving return water discharge and any entry or release of waste and pollutants,” it said in a statement.
Luas then issued a notice to the premises to apply for a licence under the Zero Discharge Policy (ZDP).
Luas also reminded all animal husbandry premises to be aware of their effluent discharge, gain licences under the ZDP, and ensure their waste doesn’t pollute water sources.
