KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 — The number of flood victims sheltering at temporary relief centres (PPS) across four states continued to decrease tonight.
In SELANGOR, the number of evacuees at PPS has decreased to 712 people (220 families), down from 740 people (234 families) this afternoon.
The Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Infobencana website showed that the number of PPS is down to eight in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
In PERLIS, the number of flood victims has decreased to 256 following the closure of another relief centre at 8pm, down from 288 people housed at three shelters earlier this afternoon.
According to data from the State Disaster Management Committee (JBPN) secretariat, two relief centres are currently operating in Padang Besar and Arau.
In PERAK, the number of evacuees at 18 PPS continued to decline, with 2,763 people (785 families) recorded tonight, compared with 3,002 people (872 families) this afternoon.
The JBPN secretariat said Hilir Perak still has the highest number of victims, at 1,441, followed by Bagan Datuk (662), Manjung (416), Perak Tengah (229), and Larut, Matang and Selama (15).
In PAHANG, two PPS are still open in Kuantan and Maran, housing 28 people from six families, down from 32 people from seven families this afternoon.
According to JKM’s InfoBencana portal, 21 victims from five families are being housed at Balairaya Kampung Baru Pertanian in Maran, while seven evacuees from one family are sheltering at SM Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Kuantan.
Water level measurements at Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) stations along all major rivers in the state indicate readings below the danger mark.
