KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 — The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain and strong winds expected across nine states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak, until 9pm.
According to the department, the weather is expected to affect Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
Similar conditions are also expected in Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, and Rompin).
MetMalaysia said forecasts for tonight also show thunderstorms and heavy rain in Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru), Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, and Bintulu), and Sabah (Sandakan), it said in an advisory this afternoon.
Earlier, MetMalaysia issued a yellow-level continuous rain alert, forecasting persistent rainfall across most states from Friday to December 8.
