SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — Nearly RM100,000 in educational, welfare, health and community development assistance was channelled to residents of Kampung Orang Asli Tanjung Sepat, Kuala Langat, through Media Selangor Sdn Bhd’s latest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The Media Selangor Masuk Kampung programme, carried out in collaboration with several strategic partners yesterday, underscores the company's commitment to not only delivering news, but also contributing directly to the social development of local communities.

“The contribution includes a wide range of assistance, such as food basket aid, distribution of school bags, educational activities and workshops, health screenings, repairs to sports facilities, the creation of a music room mural, and Lego play activities for children.

"This programme provides direct benefits to the Mah Meri Orang Asli community as well as local residents," it said in a statement today.

According to the statement, Media Selangor contributed RM35,000 for video documentation production, media coverage, content creation and the dissemination of information through digital and broadcast platforms.

Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) contributed RM20,500 for the preparation of 200 food baskets for families in need, while Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) allocated RM20,000 for the distribution of school bags and Lego sets to children in preparation for the 2026 school year.

"Selgate Healthcare sponsored RM10,000 to conduct free basic health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose and BMI checks, as well as health consultations for residents.

"Meanwhile, Selangor Utility Corridor (Kusel) contributed RM10,000 for the repair of the futsal court."

The statement said one of the most well-received activities was a cookie-making workshop hosted by celebrity chef Danish Harraz, which was attended by nearly 60 Orang Asli children.

The workshop offered participants the opportunity to learn basic baking skills in a relaxed and meaningful environment.

"Village residents also shared the benefits they received (from the CSR programme), including easier access to health screenings, essential aid, and opportunities to learn new skills."

Yesterday, Tanjung Sepat assemblyman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the programme was praiseworthy and should be expanded to all districts.

"We can look at villages that need help. In Selangor, there are Orang Asli, Malays, Chinese, and Indians. We don’t just focus on one race.

“Maybe Media Selangor could expand this programme to rural or suburban areas that need to be prioritised,” he said after launching the programme.
