KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — The police have arrested a man to assist in the investigation into yesterday’s assault on sportswriter and National Press Club (NPC) deputy president Haresh Deol in Bangsar.
Brickfields police chief ACP Hoo Chang Kook said the 37-year-old was detained at his house in Cheras by a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from the Brickfields police headquarters at 2am today.
“A three-day remand order, which runs until Friday (November 28), has been issued by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court,” he said in a brief statement today.
Hoo added that investigations are still ongoing to determine the motive for the attack.
Yesterday, he said that they were tracking down three men believed to be involved in the 3pm incident, which resulted in Haresh suffering injuries to his face, hands, and body after falling while trying to escape.
Haresh, who is also the co-founder of the news portal TwentyTwo13, lodged a police report at 4pm the same day, with the case being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
