SEPANG, Nov 5 — Two policemen have filed a civil suit against Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain over his alleged assault of them.
According to a statement issued by law firm Kamal Hisham & Associates today, the suit was filed at the Sepang Sessions Court yesterday, naming Shuhaily as the sole defendant.
“This is because the alleged assault was solely an act by Shuhaily in his personal capacity, without involving the Malaysian government,” it said.
It added that the plaintiffs brought four causes of action against Shuhaily in the suit: false imprisonment, assault, battery and defamation.
“The plaintiffs are grateful to the Malaysian government for taking a clear and firm position in this case that everyone is bound by the existing rule of law.
“The plaintiffs believe this is the appropriate forum to seek justice,” read the statement.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail earlier said his ministry decided Shuhaily would return to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Shuhaily was appointed AKPS director-general on July 1, 2025, and was supposed to serve until June 30, 2027.
On October 21, Shuhaily pleaded not guilty at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court to two charges of causing hurt to two policemen at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 on September 28.
