SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — Parents should keep their children away from floodwaters as they pose serious health risks, said state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
“Floodwaters can be contaminated and may carry bacteria and other harmful pathogens,” she told Media Selangor.
Jamaliah also reminded Selangor residents to be cautious during the monsoon season as inclement weather raises flood risks.
“While safety is a priority during this season, we must also be mindful of our personal and family health.”
She advised the public to practise good personal hygiene such as regular handwashing and keeping food safe from contamination.
She also urged those who develop symptoms to seek immediate medical treatment.
“These measures are crucial to protect themselves, their children, and families throughout the flood season,” Jamaliah said.
