SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — Selangor’s housing agenda does not merely focus on providing homes, but is also about building harmonious communities, said state executive councillor for housing Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.
He said among the key initiatives is the Caring Government for Residence Improvement Aid (Ceria) scheme, which focuses on repairing and maintaining critical infrastructure in low-cost apartments.
Additionally, the Selangor Strata Fund was introduced to help owners manage property ownership issues, ensuring their assets remain protected.
“The Ceria scheme involves various maintenance works, including lift servicing, repainting of the flats, and roof repairs, to ensure residents enjoy a comfortable, orderly and liveable environment.
"Programmes like the Rewang Komuniti Strata, along with community safety and education initiatives, are also being implemented to strengthen neighbourhood ties through gotong-royong activities and active resident participation, among others,” he said when officiating the Selangor Property Expo 2025 at Central I-City here yesterday.

Borhan added that the construction of affordable homes as well as the implementation of the Smart Rental Scheme is testament to the state's commitment to assisting its people to own their own homes.
"The state government understands the current challenges, as young people struggle to own their first home, considering the high cost of living and property prices.
“That is why we introduced Rumah Selangorku. The Rumah Selangorku 3.0 policy has also been enhanced to include two years of free maintenance fees as well as a waiver of the Memorandum of Transfer (MOT) fee.
“The Smart Rental Scheme is another form of support for the people, where rental rates are offered at affordable levels, and 30 per cent of the total rent paid will be returned as a deposit when they are ready to purchase a home,” he said.

As of October, 142 Rumah Selangor projects involving 40,737 units have been completed, while 37 other projects with 10,348 units are under construction.
Another initiative, Rumah Idaman, is also progressing well, with 6,079 units completed and another 7,755 units currently under construction.
