SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The state government has introduced the Selangor Children’s Vaccination Programme (Selvaksin), which began on Monday (November 10), to address the increasingly worrying spread of influenza.

This initiative offers free influenza vaccinations to high-risk children as an early preventive measure to safeguard the health of young people in the state.

Selgate Healthcare said the programme is open to children aged eight and below who have at least one chronic illness or comorbidity.

In a statement, it said recipients must be from B40 households with a monthly income of RM5,250 or less and have resided in the state for at least 10 years.

Vaccination locations include the Selgate Specialist Hospital in Rawang and six selected Selcare Clinic branches: Unisel Shah Alam, Putrajaya, Puchong, Kota Damansara, and SkyPark Subang.

This offer aligns with the state government’s emphasis on early prevention through various health initiatives, including Selangor Saring, Iltizam Selangor Sihat, and Bantuan Sihat Selangor.

Selvaksin also comes at an opportune time, given the rising spread of influenza nationwide since October, particularly among children.

The Health Ministry (MOH) has also confirmed an increase in Influenza A cases, prompting many schools to take precautionary measures, including temporarily closing classes.

The public is advised to register early via the provided QR code to avoid congestion and to ensure smooth queue management at vaccination locations.

Further information on the programme can be obtained via Selgate’s official website or by directly contacting the participating clinics for any enquiries.
