SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 — The state government will introduce the Selangor Women and AI initiative next year to help build AI and digital technology skills and promote their participation in high-income industries.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said RM200,000 will be allocated under the 2026 Selangor Budget for this programme, which will involve seminars and incubation training to identify barriers to women’s participation in technology and equip them with relevant digital competencies.
The MamaKerja initiative will also be expanded next year, by providing RM100 in monthly cash aid for one year to working mothers to support childcare costs for children aged six and below.
The RM5 million scheme is expected to benefit 2,166 children, with Unicef assisting in the ongoing monitoring of their cognitive, physical, and overall development.
“With an allocation of RM5 million, this demonstrates the administration’s appreciation of women’s role in the state’s development and forms part of its efforts to support working women in Selangor so they can continue contributing to both the state and their families,” he said when tabling the budget in the State Legislative Assembly today.
To strengthen women’s workforce participation, Selangor will continue the Career Comeback programme with TalentCorp, which this year recorded 1,000 participants across Gombak, Klang, Sabak Bernam, Petaling, and Hulu Langat.
For 2026, the effort will be expanded through women-focused job outreach carnivals with the Social Security Organisation (Socso), supported by a RM500,000 allocation.
Pusat Wanita Berdaya Selangor will also be enhanced with a RM2.8 million allocation, including collaborations with MardiCorp for opportunities in agrotechnology and with Kiddocare 2 Malaysia to strengthen childcare support systems.
The Usahanita Digital initiative will also continue with RM300,000 to grow women’s participation in digital entrepreneurship, e-commerce, and the creative economy.
