Tengku Permaisuri urges PR practitioners to be guided by conscience, uphold truth

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin has called on public relations practitioners to play a pivotal role in fostering unity and trust in an era of rapid change and digital transformation.

Her Royal Highness said that in today’s world, shaped by uncertainty and rapid change, communication is more critical than ever as it enables societies to find common ground, leaders to inspire hope and communities to face shared challenges.

“In this era of constant information flow, the stories we tell and the values we uphold will determine how the world sees our region -- not as a collection of countries, but as a community built on mutual respect, shared responsibility and enduring hope,” she said at the Global Public Relations Conference and Festival Malaysia 2025 (GPRCFMY 2025) here today.

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin highlighted that, as artificial intelligence, data and digital tools reshape the landscape of communication, technology is only as effective as the intent behind it.

Her Royal Highness added that true progress lies not in algorithms but in authenticity, not in speed but in sincerity and not in visibility but in values.

“Let every message we craft be anchored in honesty and humanity. Let every campaign we build promote not division, but understanding and let every platform we create serve not vanity but value.

“For communication, when guided by conscience, can heal wounds, rebuild trust and renew hope,” said Her Royal Highness.

Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, hands over a the book titled 'The Ethics Blueprint' to the president of Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA) Malaysia Prof Mohd Said Bani C. M. Din at the Global Public Relations Conference and Festival Malaysia 2025 in Kuala Lumpur on November 14, 2025.

At the event, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also launched the PRactitioners Website and the Code of Ethics and Integrity in Public Relations.

Organised by the Public Relations Practitioners Society of Malaysia (PRactitioners), the inaugural three-day event, which began yesterday, brings together more than 500 communication leaders, media professionals, policymakers and academics from Malaysia and abroad.

With the theme ‘Humanity Amplified: Redefining Public Relations in the Age of Intelligence’, the conference explores how trust, ethics and technology can coexist in modern communications through dialogues, masterclasses and plenary sessions designed to advance global communication excellence.
