SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — The nation's political landscape is showing signs of greater stability following a period of uncertainty after the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the political turbulence experienced during that period served as an important lesson for all parties, regardless of political affiliation or leadership, to form a stronger, broader, and more stable government.
“After 2018, we saw governments lasting only between 12 and 18 months. However, since the formation of the Unity Government after the 15th general election (GE15), stability has returned, and the administration has now been running smoothly for nearly three years,” Amirudin said during the Malaysian Investment Development Authority's (Mida) Strategic Investment Seminar today.
He added that the unity formula led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been a crucial foundation for effective governance, not only maintaining political stability but also enabling the more systematic implementation of government policies.
“When the government is strong and stable, policies can be executed in a more organised and efficient manner.
“For example, the targeted subsidy initiative, like the diesel subsidy programme, has been implemented successfully despite initial challenges,” Amirudin said.
The Menteri Besar also emphasised that Malaysian politics is now moving towards greater maturity, with all parties increasingly ready to work together across political lines and regions for the benefit of the people.
“This is not merely the political mission of certain leaders, but a national mission for Malaysia.
“The true strength lies in our ability to unite and maintain stability for the nation’s future,” he said.
