Over 200 motorcyclists inspected, four detained in Kesas Highway operation

SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — The police inspected 210 motorcyclists and detained four individuals for dangerous riding during an integrated special operation at the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) early this morning.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said 48 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while 105 summonses were issued for various offences aimed at curbing illegal street racing.

The operation, which began at 1.30am, saw a full road closure between KM18 and KM26, six kilometres from a known racing hotspot, at 3.30am.

“All seized motorcycles and riders were taken to the Klang Selatan district police headquarters for further action,” he said in a statement today.

Five riders tested positive for drugs, while the Environment Department (DOE) issued summonses to three motorcyclists for modified exhausts exceeding noise limits.

Shazeli added that police would continue to step up enforcement to ensure road safety, especially in areas frequently used for illegal racing.

The operation, which ended at 9.15am, involved 183 personnel from various enforcement agencies, including the Road Transport Department, the DOE, the National Anti-Drugs Agency, and the Kesas Highway concessionaire.
