SHAH ALAM, Nov 1 — Youths in Selangor are calling on the state government to prioritise technical skills training, entrepreneurship support and cost-of-living relief in the upcoming 2026 Selangor Budget.
UiTM Communication and Media Studies student Wan Muhammad Danish Azfar Usuluddin, 22, said the state administration should allocate funds to help fresh graduates venture into technical fields and start small businesses.
"The state government should provide platforms for youths to develop technical skills in line with market needs, such as in the automotive and maritime sectors,” he said.

UiTM Law student Syamimi Ayu Jesnita Mohd Shuhaimi, 22, suggested strengthening start-up capital initiatives to encourage young people to engage in small-scale entrepreneurship.
“I believe young people have the potential to become entrepreneurs, but a lack of capital remains a major hurdle. Existing initiatives could be enhanced to benefit more youths,” she said.
For UiTM Civil Engineering student Nur Madihah Mohtar, 22, more programmes and sales festivals should be organised by the state to create business opportunities for youths.
“Government emphasis on youth entrepreneurship programmes is essential to produce professional entrepreneurs who can contribute to the country’s economy in the future,” she said.

Another student from the same faculty, Muhammad Taufiq Abdul Rahman, 22, proposed that the state prioritise affordable housing for young people starting families.
“The rising cost of living is a key concern. As a developed state, Selangor should prioritise the basic needs of young families by ensuring access to affordable homes,” he said.
Previously, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the administration continues to provide youth training and development programmes, including U-Plats, SAY Entrepreneur League, SAY Aspire, Selangor Export Day, Hijrah Microcredit Scheme, as well as entrepreneurship expos and fairs.
